Удивительно, но в городе высотных ЖК все еще можно встретить жилые деревянные дома с палисадниками в яблонях и остекленной верандой во всю ширину. Например, «профессорский домик» на Тимирязевской улице, который на картах Москвы обозначен как «дом Шредера — Вильямса».

«Неожиданным оказывается для людей, что здесь вообще кто-то живет. Нас забывали звать на выборы или теряли наши карты в поликлинике, потому что “дом же нежилой, как так вы там живете — нет такого дома”», — рассказывает Мария, праправнучка первого владельца Василия Робертовича Вильямса, знаменитого почвоведа и сына американского инженера Оскара Вильямса, строившего мосты Октябрьской железной дороги. Сейчас она живет на первом этаже дома со своей семьей — мужем и двумя дочерями.

«Дом в викторианском стиле был на две семьи: на первом этаже жила семья академика Вильямса, а на втором — семья главного садовника Петровской академии Рихарда Ивановича Шредера. Куда исчезла семья Рихарда Ивановича, я, к сожалению, не знаю, я даже не помню, когда они уехали. Когда я родилась, их здесь уже не было, здесь уже были службы академии».
